Yomu

Yomu is a free native manga, webtoon, and manhwa reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac with built-in Kavita support — no separate extension or repository required.

Installation

  1. Download Yomu from the App Store (iOS, iPadOS 15+, macOS 13+).
  2. Open the app and tap Browse → tap the + button → choose Add Kavita Server.

Setup

To connect Yomu to your Kavita instance you’ll need an API key.

Get your API key

  1. Sign in to your Kavita server in a web browser.
  2. Open your User Settings.
  3. Switch to the 3rd Party Clients tab.
  4. Copy the text under the API Key.

You can paste the full Kavita login URL (e.g. https://my.server/login?apiKey=...) into the Server URL field and Yomu will extract the API key automatically.

Configure the source

  1. In Yomu’s Kavita server form, fill in:
    • Name — optional label shown in the Browse list
    • Server URL — e.g. https://my.server:5000
    • API Key — paste from step 4 above
  2. Tap Test Connection to verify, then Save.

You can configure multiple Kavita servers — each one shows up as its own entry under Browse.

Browse and read

  • Browse, search, and filter series across every Kavita server you’ve added
  • Pick from manga, webtoon (vertical scroll), or comic reading modes per series
  • Download chapters for offline reading
  • Read-state and progress sync back to Kavita automatically as you finish chapters
  • Bookmarks, per-series reader settings, and external display support on iPad and Mac

Tracking

Reading progress (last page read, completed chapters) syncs to your Kavita server automatically — no extra setup. You can also link series to AniList, MyAnimeList, Kitsu, or MangaUpdates.

Compatibility

Keep both up to date for best results:

  • Kavita server (latest stable)
  • Yomu (latest from the App Store)

Yomu uses the official Kavita REST API — no plugins needed.
